Sugar Addiction – The Shocking Findings of a Processed
Poison. In addition to cancer and heart attack, diabetes is one of the most
common diseases of today. According to the National Institute of Diabetes and
Digestive and Kidney Diseases, diabetes is: “….a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. Blood glucose is your main source of energy, and comes from the food you eat.
Insulin, the hormone made by the pancreas, helps glucose from food to get into your
cells to be used for energy. Sometimes, your body doesn’t make enough, or any
insulin, or doesn’t use insulin well. Glucose then stays in your blood and
doesn’t reach your cells. Over time, having too much glucose in your blood
can cause health problems. Although diabetes has no cure, you can take steps
to manage your diabetes and stay healthy….” So, diabetes is an incurable chronic
disease, characterised by increased blood glucose (hyperglycemia). It is believed that lifestyle is responsible for the steady increase in diabetes. When the pancreas
gland does not secrete enough insulin hormones, diabetes occurs. So, with
diabetes being a consequence of people’s lifestyle, which includes an unhealthy
diet with inflammatory and processed foods, how does the anti-inflammatory
omega 3 fatty acids play a role in managing, and in some cases, reversing the condition? Before we answer that in the second video in this series, you need to
be aware of the types of diabetes that you can suffer from. Types of Diabetes:
There are three main types of diabetes as follows:
1. Type 1 – Mostly occurs in teens and children when the pancreas stops
producing insulin. From the first day when the disease is diagnosed, treatment
is necessary and blood glucose control is a must. This type can also occur in
all ages. What happens is that your immune system attacks the cells in your
pancreas that make the insulin, and so the body has to obtain it for medication.
Sadly, people with type 1 diabetes need to take insulin every day to stay alive
by injecting themselves; 2. Type 2 – This is the most common form that affects
adults for multiple reasons, such as high cholesterol and triglyceride levels, obesity, and high blood pressure caused by stress. it is estimated that over 90% of diabetes sufferers have type 2 diabetes.
Weight management and healthier lifestyle habits are generally
sufficient measures for controlling this type of diabetes; 3. Gestational
diabetes – A form of diabetes that occurs at the end of pregnancy but disappears
quickly after giving birth. Normally, this type of diabetes goes away after the
baby is born. However, if you’ve had gestational diabetes then your chances of developing type 2 diabetes later in life increase. Sometimes, though, diabetes diagnosed during pregnancy is essentially type 2 diabetes anyway, which is not good
news. So, what are the most common symptoms of diabetes? Well, these can
include: (1) Excessive thirst; (2) Frequent urination; (3) Fatigue; (4) Weight loss; (5) Blurred vision; (6) Wounds that heal slowly; (7) Tingling of the feet; and (8) Gum problems. Now you have a greater understanding of
the types of diabetes and some of its symptoms, the next video will cover: the
role omega 3 fatty acids play in fighting this disease; how the humble
Eskimo leads the way; and the disturbing development in the direction diabetes is
now taking. In the meantime, we hope you’ve enjoyed the information provided
